Looking where I was an hour and a half ago

\
Back down in the Highland Center parking lot at 12:30pm, and looking back up at Mt Tom (to the right of the peaked roof). Awesome.

Believe it or not...

...this is bunny pee. The only sign of life while I was on the trail was bunny tracks, everywhere, and this was definitely not human yellow snow!

Killer view from Mt Tom summit

Mt Tom summit, 11am

More enchanted forest on the way to the summit

Half mile to go to the Summit

Reached the Mt Tom Spur trail at 10:30am which sits in the Field-Tom Col.

Enchanted Forest: view of the trail to Mt Tom

First winter ascent: Mt Tom

Finally a break in the subzero weather. First winter ascent: Mt Tom, 4051'. Departed the Highland Center at 8am, temps around 14 degrees. Balmy.

Moose tracks(?) on East Pasture Loop

Too cold to climb...

...but not too cold for some Nordi skiing

-2 and falling

Temperatures have been in the negative single and double digits, so I'm hoping temps will come up to make a winter ascent a little more reasonable. Otherwise, plenty of Nordi and Alpine to be had.

Winter Ascents

For the first time in 14 years I'm in between jobs (bye-bye Razorfish, hellow HUGE) and I'm taking a few days up in NH to mark the change with some summits. This is the view from the driver's side on US302 on my way down through Crawford Notch. Mt Washington is rising above the rest of the Presi's in the center of the photo.
